The vehicle is delivered to the renter in good overall condition and free of any visible damage or defects. Any complaints or remarks must be reported before the vehicle departs.
If the renter wishes to extend the rental period, they must notify the company at least 48 hours prior to the expiration of this agreement.
Each additional hour is charged at 1/5 of the standard daily rental rate.
2. Payment Terms
A deposit of 30% of the total amount is required at the time of booking.
The remaining balance must be paid upon delivery or collection of the vehicle.
3. Fuel and Traffic Violations
Fuel costs, as well as any fines or violations of traffic laws, are the sole responsibility of the renter.
4. Terms of Use
The vehicle must not be used:
a) for towing other vehicles or objects
b) in races or any competitive activities
c) on poor-quality roads or non-paved surfaces (e.g. rocks, beaches, etc.)
d) while the driver is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substances, or in violation of traffic laws
e) for sub-rental or transfer to third parties without prior authorisation from the company
f) for transporting dangerous or illegal goods
g) outside the island of Crete without prior approval from the company
The renter is required to comply with all traffic regulations. In case of violation of the terms of this agreement, the company reserves the right to terminate the agreement immediately without any obligation for compensation.
5. Accidents
In the event of an accident (collision, fire, theft, etc.), the renter must immediately notify the company and then:
a) notify the police
b) collect all relevant information and any witness statements
c) prepare and sign a complete written report of the incident
d) not accept liability or settle any claims from third parties without prior approval from the company
6. Insurance
All vehicles are covered by comprehensive insurance. The first €300 of any damage is NOT covered and remains the responsibility of the renter.
Personal accident insurance for passengers is included in the rental price.
The underside of the vehicle, rims, tires, and mirrors are not covered by the insurance. Any mechanical damage caused by negligence or misuse by the renter is also the renter’s responsibility, as well as any damage to the interior of the vehicle.
The insurance does not cover loss of the key or damages caused by the renter’s fault. The company is not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings of the driver or passengers.
Note: Many renters have travel insurance (e.g. through a credit card), which may also cover rental vehicles.
7. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations are free of charge up to 6 weeks prior to the scheduled vehicle pick-up date.
8. Rental Policy
Prices include:
• local taxes and VAT
• area map
• unlimited mileage
• 24-hour roadside assistance
• third-party liability insurance
• fire insurance
One child seat and a second driver are provided free of charge.
The driver must be between 23 and 75 years old.
Required:
• valid driving license
• valid credit card (Mastercard, VISA, or Maestro)
Debit or prepaid cards are not accepted for the vehicle security deposit.
Payment can be made in cash (euros), debit, or credit card.
9. Final Provision
By signing, the renter confirms that they have read, understood, and fully accept the terms of this agreement.
In the event of any legal dispute between FILIA RENT A CAR and the renter, the courts of Heraklion, Crete shall have jurisdiction.
