TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Insurance Policy

All cars are rented with the following insurance covers which are included in the rental price: fire, theft, third party liability, personal accident, collision damage waiver (CDW). Additionally, the clients can purchase a full insurance cover (FDW) to obtain a complete protection against any costs.

Full Damage Waiver (FDW) Insurance

FDW insurance implies NO below-mentioned CDW excess. FDW covers ALL repair costs in case of an accident. No amount of money on the client’s bank card will be blocked as a warranty when renting a car with FDW Insurance.  FDW is optional and the client can obtain it either when booking a car via Internet or at the delivery point. The FDW costs €5 per day.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

All cars are insured under Collision Damage Waiver which implies an excess depending on the car category that covers repair costs in case of an accident. The excess is reserved for the period of rental by a debit/credit card issued in the name of the driver and will be fully refunded after the end of the rental period if no damage occurs. The CDW insurance doesn't cover damage to the car interior, windows, mirrors, the wheel, the car undercarriage, tyres, loss of personal belongings. The excess is equal to:

a) for Car Group A – maximum charge is €550;

b) for Car Group B – maximum charge is €650;

c) for Car Group B1 – maximum charge is €700;

d) for Car Groups C, C1, Mini-Bus(7 seats) – maximum charge is €800;

e) for Cabrio Group  – maximum charge is €1000.

Third-Party Insurance

The car driver is insured against the injury or damage inflicted to the third party property.

Personal Accident Insurance

Personal Accident Insurance covers hospital treatment for both the driver and the occupants of the vehicle up to a certain amount.

Car Theft Insurance

The clients are totally relieved of financial responsibility in the event of the car theft. The client’s personal belongings are not covered.

Fire Insurance

Fire Insurance covers the damage caused to the rental vehicle by fire, lightning strike or explosion.

**IMPORTANT NOTES: Both CDW and FDW are valid ONLY under the condition that the traffic rules have not been violated.

The clients will be NOT covered by any insurance, if:

• The driver causes an accident under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol.
• The car is driven by a person not included as a driver in the rental agreement.
• The client uses a car for illegal purposes, such as smuggling, theft, illegal transport of objects and goods.
• After an accident, the driver doesn’t stop and doesn’t take the necessary actions, such as informing Colossos Rent a Car, the Traffic Police (100), getting names and addresses of those involved in the accident, and moving the car from the point where the accident has taken place before the representative of the insurance company or the Traffic Police arrives.
• Damages are caused to the car because of off-road driving (road without asphalt, beaches, mountains etc.).
• The car is used in violation of the traffic rules (e.g., red light, road signs, speed limits).

Tyre Insurance

FDW covers tyres only if the client replaces a punctured or flat tyre immediately and does not bring it to the state beyond repair, otherwise the client will be charged for that tyre replacement.

Tyres cost between €50 and €100 each, depending on the type of the car rented. For luxury cars, the price per tyre varies from €100 to €250.

Car Key Loss

In case of the car key loss, the client must contact Colossos Rent a Car immediately to get spare keys. The renter is totally responsible for payment of the key replacement as it is not covered by any insurance.

General Rental Policy 

When renting a car, EU citizens are asked to provide a valid National Driving License along with their ID card. For citizens outside the European Union, an International Driving License (with a picture) is required (with exception for Russia, Israel, and the United Kingdom who have the same requirements as EU citizens).

Driver’s Age

All drivers must be at least 23 years of age and hold a driving license for at least 24 months.

Pricing Policy

The price of the car rental includes:

• 24h phone assistance
• All taxes (VAT & local taxes)
• Unlimited kilometers
• Second driver
• Pick up & drop off
• Road map of Rhodes Island
• Baby seat, booster seat (available upon request)
• Enhanced cleaning

** Please note that all the traffic fines and parking charges are paid by the client.

Payment Methods

Payment for the car rental is made by cash or credit /debit card. No deposit is required. The clients only pay the full amount at the time they receive the car.

Booking a Car

All bookings are changed or cancelled free of charge 24 hours prior to the start of the rental period. The price of the changed booking will be changed respectively depending on the conditions the client modifies.

*Please note if the clients need the car to be delivered to the airport they should advise Colossos Rent a Car of their flight number and inform of any changes or delays of their flight in advance. Colossos Rent a Car will not be held responsible for cars not delivered due to a late arrival of the flight if the clients don’t provide this information.

Car Delivery & Collection Policy

Colossos Rent a Car will deliver to and pick up the cars at no extra charge at the following locations: Diagoras Airport, Rhodes Harbour, Rhodes Mandraki Port, Rhodes Town, Ialysos, Ixia, Kalithea, Faliraki, Afandou, Kolympia, Theologos.

Calculation of Rental Period

A full day is charged for any portion of a 24 hour period used per day.

Fuel Policy

The amount of fuel is always checked and marked on the rental agreement when the client receives the car. The car should be returned with the same amount of fuel. If the car is returned with additional fuel, the value of the fuel is not refunded. In case the car is returned with less fuel, the client will be charged up to the amount which was indicated on the agreement.

Model & Group of Car

The model of the car is indicative and only the car group is confirmed. In special cases of unavailability, the client is offered a larger car group at no extra charge.

Return of the Car before the End of the Rental Period

If the car is returned earlier than the end of the rental period, no part of the amount paid for the car rental is refunded.

Geographical Restrictions

The use of the car is purposed ONLY within the island of Rhodes. Crossing borders or travelling to different islands by the rented car is prohibited.

Mileage

There is no restriction to the number of kilometers the client can drive during the car rental period.

Car Replacement Policy

In case of a car accident, damage or any problem with the car driving, the car will be replaced upon the client’s phone call to Colossos Rent a Car office.

The clients are totally relieved of financial responsibility in the event of the car theft. The client’s personal belongings are not covered.

Fire Insurance

Fire Insurance covers the damage caused to the rental vehicle by fire, lightning strike or explosion.

**IMPORTANT NOTES: Both CDW and FDW are valid ONLY under the condition that the traffic rules have not been violated.

The clients will be NOT covered by any insurance, if:

• The driver causes an accident under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol.
• The car is driven by a person not included as a driver in the rental agreement.
• The client uses a car for illegal purposes, such as smuggling, theft, illegal transport of objects and goods.
• After an accident, the driver doesn’t stop and doesn’t take the necessary actions, such as informing Colossos Rent a Car, the Traffic Police (100), getting names and addresses of those involved in the accident, and moving the car from the point where the accident has taken place before the representative of the insurance company or the Traffic Police arrives.
• Damages are caused to the car because of off-road driving (road without asphalt, beaches, mountains etc.).
• The car is used in violation of the traffic rules (e.g., red light, road signs, speed limits).

Tyre Insurance

FDW covers tyres only if the client replaces a punctured or flat tyre immediately and does not bring it to the state beyond repair, otherwise the client will be charged for that tyre replacement.

Tyres cost between €50 and €100 each, depending on the type of the car rented. For luxury cars, the price per tyre varies from €100 to €250.

Car Key Loss

In case of the car key loss, the client must contact Colossos Rent a Car immediately to get spare keys. The renter is totally responsible for payment of the key replacement as it is not covered by any insurance.

When renting a car, EU citizens are asked to provide a valid National Driving License along with their ID card. For citizens outside the European Union, an International Driving License (with a picture) is required (with exception for Russia, Israel, and the United Kingdom who have the same requirements as EU citizens).

*Please note if the clients need the car to be delivered to the airport they should advise Colossos Rent a Car of their flight number and inform of any changes or delays of their flight in advance. Colossos Rent a Car will not be held responsible for cars not delivered due to a late arrival of the flight if the clients don’t provide this information.

Calculation of Rental Period

A full day is charged for any portion of a 24 hour period used per day.

The model of the car is indicative and only the car group is confirmed. In special cases of unavailability, the client is offered a larger car group at no extra charge.

Return of the Car before the End of the Rental Period

If the car is returned earlier than the end of the rental period, no part of the amount paid for the car rental is refunded.

Geographical Restrictions

The use of the car is purposed ONLY within the island of Rhodes. Crossing borders or travelling to different islands by the rented car is prohibited.

Mileage

There is no restriction to the number of kilometers the client can drive during the car rental period.

Car Replacement Policy

In case of a car accident, damage or any problem with the car driving, the car will be replaced upon the client’s phone call to Colossos Rent a Car office.

a) for Car Group A – maximum charge is €550;

d) for Car Groups C, C1, Mini-Bus(7 seats) – maximum charge is €800;

e) for Cabrio Group  – maximum charge is €1000.

• The client uses a car for illegal purposes, such as smuggling, theft, illegal transport of objects and goods.
• After an accident, the driver doesn’t stop and doesn’t take the necessary actions, such as informing Colossos Rent a Car, the Traffic Police (100), getting names and addresses of those involved in the accident, and moving the car from the point where the accident has taken place before the representative of the insurance company or the Traffic Police arrives.
• Damages are caused to the car because of off-road driving (road without asphalt, beaches, mountains etc.).
• The car is used in violation of the traffic rules (e.g., red light, road signs, speed limits).

Geographical Restrictions

The use of the car is purposed ONLY within the island of Rhodes. Crossing borders or travelling to different islands by the rented car is prohibited.

Mileage

There is no restriction to the number of kilometers the client can drive during the car rental period.

In case of a car accident, damage or any problem with the car driving, the car will be replaced upon the client’s phone call to Colossos Rent a Car office.

FDW insurance implies NO below-mentioned CDW excess. FDW covers ALL repair costs in case of an accident. No amount of money on the client’s bank card will be blocked as a warranty when renting a car with FDW Insurance.  FDW is optional and the client can obtain it either when booking a car via Internet or at the delivery point. The FDW costs €5 per day.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

All cars are insured under Collision Damage Waiver which implies an excess depending on the car category that covers repair costs in case of an accident. The excess is reserved for the period of rental by a debit/credit card issued in the name of the driver and will be fully refunded after the end of the rental period if no damage occurs. The CDW insurance doesn't cover damage to the car interior, windows, mirrors, the wheel, the car undercarriage, tyres, loss of personal belongings. The excess is equal to:

a) for Car Group A – maximum charge is €350;

b) for Car Group B – maximum charge is €450;

c) for Car Group B1 – maximum charge is €500;

d) for Car Groups C, C1, Mini-Bus(7 seats) – maximum charge is €600;

e) for Cabrio Group  – maximum charge is €1000.

Third-Party Insurance

The car driver is insured against the injury or damage inflicted to the third party property.

Personal Accident Insurance

Personal Accident Insurance covers hospital treatment for both the driver and the occupants of the vehicle up to a certain amount.

Car Theft Insurance

The clients are totally relieved of financial responsibility in the event of the car theft. The client’s personal belongings are not covered.

Fire Insurance

Fire Insurance covers the damage caused to the rental vehicle by fire, lightning strike or explosion.

**IMPORTANT NOTES: Both CDW and FDW are valid ONLY under the condition that the traffic rules have not been violated.

The clients will be NOT covered by any insurance, if:

• The driver causes an accident under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol.
• The car is driven by a person not included as a driver in the rental agreement.
• The client uses a car for illegal purposes, such as smuggling, theft, illegal transport of objects and goods.
• After an accident, the driver doesn’t stop and doesn’t take the necessary actions, such as informing Colossos Rent a Car, the Traffic Police (100), getting names and addresses of those involved in the accident, and moving the car from the point where the accident has taken place before the representative of the insurance company or the Traffic Police arrives.
• Damages are caused to the car because of off-road driving (road without asphalt, beaches, mountains etc.).
• The car is used in violation of the traffic rules (e.g., red light, road signs, speed limits).

Tyre Insurance

FDW covers tyres only if the client replaces a punctured or flat tyre immediately and does not bring it to the state beyond repair, otherwise the client will be charged for that tyre replacement.

Tyres cost between €50 and €100 each, depending on the type of the car rented. For luxury cars, the price per tyre varies from €100 to €250.

Car Key Loss

In case of the car key loss, the client must contact Colossos Rent a Car immediately to get spare keys. The renter is totally responsible for payment of the key replacement as it is not covered by any insurance.

For citizens outside the European Union, an International Driving License (with a picture) is required (with exception for Russia, Israel, and the United Kingdom who have the same requirements as EU citizens).

If the car is returned with additional fuel, the value of the fuel is not refunded. In case the car is returned with less fuel, the client will be charged up to the amount which was indicated on the agreement.

Model & Group of Car

The model of the car is indicative and only the car group is confirmed. In special cases of unavailability, the client is offered a larger car group at no extra charge.

Return of the Car before the End of the Rental Period

If the car is returned earlier than the end of the rental period, no part of the amount paid for the car rental is refunded.

Geographical Restrictions

The use of the car is purposed ONLY within the island of Rhodes. Crossing borders or travelling to different islands by the rented car is prohibited.

Mileage

There is no restriction to the number of kilometers the client can drive during the car rental period.

Car Replacement Policy

In case of a car accident, damage or any problem with the car driving, the car will be replaced upon the client’s phone call to Colossos Rent a Car office.
